Maritime Services
Ltd launched The Service Centre in February 1997 to provide
a fast, high quality and cost effective repair service for
the Marine Electronics Industry. Created as a “One Stop
Shop”, The Service Centre is able to offer specialist service
and repair facilities for a wide range of marine electronic
products.
|
|
|
|
Initially available
to the Marine Electronics Dealer network, the service offered
a 5 day turn around, a 30% cost reduction on comparable
services and provided a 12 month warranty.

There was and continues
to be a substantial investment in test equipment and spare
parts. The workshops are fully anti-static with surface
mount workstations, the latest digital R.F. test facilities
and a wide range of product specific test stations. The
Service Centre is now also the largest stockist of spare
parts for the majority of manufacturers within the UK.

As The Service Centre
gained the approval of the manufacturers and distributors
many began to approach The Service Centre with a view to
using the service themselves. The first to do so were Italian
OEM specialists C-Map. Others soon followed and it proved
so successful that in October 1997, after just 9 months,
The Service Centre was asked to provide autopilot manufacturer
Cetrek with a complete service package. Today the majority
of manufacturers within the UK and many others worldwide
either recommend or use The Service Centre directly.

Early in 1998 after
negotiations with American marine electronics giant Techsonic,
The Service Centre won the contract to service the Humminbird
product range in the UK. The business continued to expand
with a move into new offices and The Service Centre team
completing over 4000 repairs. In 1999 a network of European
Service Points was established along with new offices in
the USA. In 2000 a service agreement was finalised with
the worlds largest marine electronics manufacturer, Simrad
and repair time to our Service Points was reduced to 3 days.

|
There has been continued
expansion during 2001 and 2002 with Geonav, Navman and Echopilot
all appointing The Service Centre which now has Service
Points in over 25 countries world wide and provides a one
stop, turn key service solution for European and International
manufacturers alike in both of their respective home and
export markets. The planned move to larger premises in late
2004 is well advanced and will provide us with the much
needed space in a purpose built facility
